Nickel Alloy Properties

Inconel 600 / Alloy 600 is an austenitic nickel-chromium-iron alloy used in standard engineering applications requiring corrosion resistance and high-temperature performance. With a minimum nickel content of 72%, it provides good resistance to many organic and inorganic compounds and offers strong resistance to chloride-ion stress corrosion cracking. Its chromium content improves oxidation resistance at elevated temperatures and increases resistance to sulfur compounds and oxidizing corrosive environments. Inconel 600 / Alloy 600 is not a precipitation-hardening alloy; its strength is mainly increased by cold working. Thanks to its good mechanical properties, weldability, hot and cold formability, and resistance to carburizing and nitriding atmospheres, it is widely used in chemical processing, heat treatment, furnace equipment, aerospace, electronics and nuclear applications.

Description

Inconel 600 / Alloy 600 is a nickel-chromium-iron alloy with strong high-temperature and corrosion resistance, suitable for use from cryogenic temperatures to approximately 1095°C depending on service conditions. It offers good resistance to oxidation, carburizing and nitriding atmospheres. The alloy is weldable by standard methods; however, creep strength should be evaluated for long-term service at elevated temperatures, particularly above 700°C.
