Grade Code UNS Duplex Stainless Steel
1.4460 / AISI 329 X3CrNiMoN27-5-2 S32900

Steel Properties

1.4460 / AISI 329, is a duplex stainless steel grade distinguished by its high mechanical strength, good toughness and strong resistance to stress corrosion cracking. Its microstructure, combining austenitic and ferritic phases, provides a higher yield strength than conventional austenitic stainless steels. Its high strength and good weldability under suitable conditions provide reliable performance in service conditions where mechanical and corrosive loads occur together.

Description

1.4460 / AISI 329, is a duplex stainless steel grade preferred for demanding service conditions where conventional stainless steels may be insufficient, as it combines high strength with corrosion resistance. Its high yield strength can provide opportunities for design optimization, particularly for components operating under high mechanical loads. At the same time, proper control of the manufacturing process is important because suitable temperature control is required during production and welding operations. When processed correctly, it provides a long service life and reliable operating performance.
